When is stress?
So far, I experienced stress in most cases as eu-stress. That is stress that creates the kind of tension in my behavior and thinking that leads to better performance. I remember having given presentations that I had merely finished the moment I started. Probably because Power Point gives the speaker so much power to gloss
over not so well thought out patches, I never experienced these patches as dangerous.
Event though I still work with Power Point a lot, using it in the classroom is a completely different story. In the conference hall I was focusing on creating an image of competence, a basis for trust. In the classroom the focal points are involvement and explanation. So the tool's characteristics work somehow against my intention. It is much harder to curb the tool so that it helps involving people rather than overpowering them. And I get nervous when the time of the lecture approaches and I do not have a good idea how to break out of the grip of the tool. My ideas certainly do not pop-up on demand and pulling won't help making them grow either: Time pressure destroys the precondition for creation and I experience distress.

Welcome all to our joint endeavor into the web and blogosphere.
I am keen to jointly explore how far we get in establishing a virtual community of practice on our intereduc website.
I am confident that we will have the stamina and perseverance to keep trying until we get what we need out of our efforts.
For me it is particularly exciting to test and push this jointly with you guys. I believe that collaboration is to action what dialog is to thinking. We do not know in advance what it will be and have to carefully explore it. It also means that there is little exiting action if there is no collaboration.
Let us start.
